Japanese police have arrested a Japanese artist for sending computer data intended to reproduce her genitals with a 3D printer. This fact would violate national law prohibiting the distribution of "indecent" material.
Megumi Igarashi, the suspect, is a 42-year resident of Tokyo who works under the alias Rokudenashiko ("good-for-nothing kid"), according to Kyodo news agency.
Igarashi has allegedly sent a man a digital file containing data to reproduce her genitals with a 3D printer in three dimensions, in exchange for a sum of money.
"The vagina artist", as she is sometimes referred to, has already used this method several times in order to raise funds to build a boat in the shape of a vagina, and to date has achieved one million yen ($9,800) in a crowdfunding campaign.
Igarashi told investigators she did not send any pictures of female genitalia and that she does not consider the 3D data to be obscene material, the sources said.
The artist has produced a series of dioramas with a mold of her genitals, the 'Deco-Man" ("Man" could be a short for the Japanese word that equates to pussy, "manko"and "Deco" stands for "decorated"), after she underwent a procedure known as "vaginal rejuvenation", a surgical practice increasingly popular in which a woman's labia, hymen or both, are surgically reshaped, usually to look smaller .
